In Japanese, jima (島) translates to "island"—and that’s exactly what I wanted to create: a peaceful, curated island where you can explore and enjoy a wide variety of organic matcha powders from across the beautiful islands of Japan.

Meet the Founder – Naoto

Hello! I'm Naoto, the founder of Matcha-Jima.

I was born and raised in Japan, but I’ve also lived abroad in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain. It was during my time in Manchester, UK that the idea for Matcha-Jima was born.

One day, I walked into a shop and saw a product labeled as "Japanese matcha." But when I looked at the color, it wasn’t the vibrant green I knew. The quality just wasn’t there, and it made me feel disappointed that something so special from Japan was being misrepresented.

That moment inspired me to build Matcha-Jima - a place where people all over the world can experience the true richness, freshness, and diversity of authentic organic Japanese matcha.
